There are many components that contribute to a successful deck design. 01 — New Deck Construction

We design and build new timber and composite decks throughout Auckland, from simple ground-level entertaining areas through to elevated decks incorporating stairs, balustrades, privacy screens, lighting and detailed architectural features.

For initial budgeting, a new hardwood deck will typically cost around $800–$1,200 per m², although every project is different. Access, overall deck size, height above ground, subfloor requirements, stairs, balustrading, electrical work, lighting and the use of facing or screening boards can all influence the completed cost.

Our aim is to establish these requirements early so we can provide realistic pricing and design the deck around what matters most to you.

02 — Deck Replacements & Upgrades

An existing deck doesn’t always need to be replaced like-for-like. Rebuilding provides an opportunity to improve its layout, access, appearance and usability while addressing ageing or deteriorated framing.

A complete deck replacement will generally add approximately $75–$150 per m² over the cost of equivalent new construction to allow for demolition, waste removal and working around the existing structure and property.

When replacing a deck, we can also look at opportunities to improve stairs, add lighting, introduce privacy screening, change decking materials or alter the layout to create a better connection between your home and outdoor areas.

03 — Timber & Composite Decking Options

The choice of decking has a significant impact on the finished appearance, maintenance requirements and cost of your project. We can help you compare materials and choose an option that suits both the architecture of your home and how you intend to use the deck.

Our decking options include Vitex, Garapa, Purpleheart, Kwila, premium Radiata pine, merchant-grade Radiata pine, Abodo Vulcan, Accoya modified timber, and a large range of composite decking products available in different colours, textures and finishes.

Rather than recommending one product for every project, we consider factors such as exposure, maintenance, budget, appearance and expected weathering before helping you make a selection.

04 — Deck Stairs, Balustrades & Privacy Screens

Stairs and balustrades aren’t simply additions required at the end of a deck build. Their location and design can have a major impact on access, circulation, safety and the overall appearance of the deck.

We build a range of timber stairs and balustrade styles and can incorporate screening, gates, integrated lighting and other details into the overall design.

Well-designed privacy screens can also dramatically improve an outdoor space by providing separation from neighbouring properties, shelter and a stronger architectural finish. When properly positioned and integrated into the deck, they can become a feature rather than something that looks added afterwards.
